AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING ALL DOG OWNERS TO REGISTER THEIR DOGS IN THE OFFICE OF THE MUNICIPAL TREASURER AND TO SUBMIT THEIR DOGS TO THE VETERENARIAN OR RURAL HEALTH PHYSICIAN FOR VACCINATION AGAINST RABIES AND TO PROVIDE PENALTY THEREOF.

Be it ordained by the Municipal Council of Catarman, Camiguin that:

Section 1

Any person owning a dog or dogs must register his/her/their dog or dogs in the Office of the Municipal Treasurer and shall pay as registration fee in the amount of two pesos per head of dog.

Section 2

The owner of a dog or dogs registered must hang on the neck of the dog or dogs the tag that will be issued be the Office of the Municipal Treasurer upon payment of two pesos per head.

Section 3

The owner of a dog or dogs must provide his/her vaccine against rabies and submit his/her dog or dogs to the veterinarian or rural health physician for vaccination, and shall ask certification from the person vaccinating stating that the dog or dogs has been vaccinated against rabies and shall further state in the certification when to submit for another future vaccination.

Section 4

All dogs found roaming around the town without any tag hanging in the neck will be considered astray, and all astray dogs must be killed.

Section 5

Any dog who bites a person in the street or elsewhere but not within the presence of the owner of the dog shall answer all expenses in connection with the treatment or the person beaten and shall also answer whatever consequences that may result on the person beaten.

Section 6

Any dog owner found violating the provisions or this ordinance shall be fined of not more than fifty pesos and not less than twenty-five pesos, or an imprisonment of not more than twenty days and not less than ten days, or both fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the court.

Section 7

Any ordinance whose provisions are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 8

This ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
