AN ORDINANCE TO PROHIBIT TO CATCH FISH USING FISHING NET, FISHING POKOT AND FISHING SIGPAW WITHIN THE RADIUS OF TWENTY (20) METERS FROM THE WHARF.
Be it ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan of Catarman. Camiguin, now assembled, that:
Section 1
EXPLANATORY NOTE: The passage of this ordinance is made with the view of making the premises surrounding the wharf breeding place for fish, the protection of young ones form early harvest, and to make the place recreational center of natural aquarium. Catarman as of the present is often visited by excursionists and or tourist who used to stay in the Poblacion and stayed over-night. They used to fresh themselves in the wharf especially during sunset and to see the beauty of nature, to see the towering mountain of Malindang in Mindanao, to see the island of Siquijor and to enjoy looking small fish of different sizes swimming nearby the wharf. In order to preserve and not to molest the fish around the premises of the wharf, this ordinance is ordained by the Sangguniang Bayan.
Section 2
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons to catch fish within the radius of twenty (20) meters from the Catarman wharf using fishing net, fishing pokot, fishing sigpaw, or fishing materials of the same nature.
Section 3
Any person or persons violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined of not more than fifty (P50.00) pesos, and not less than twenty-five (P25.00) pesos, or imprisonment of not more than ten days (10) and not less than five (5) days, or both fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the court.
Section 4
Any ordinance whose provisions are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 5
That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
