AN ORDINANCE ALLOWING/PERMITTING THE SMALL-SCALE COMMERCIAL FISHING VESSELS,OWNED AND OPERATED BY LEGITIMATE FISHERFOLKS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF CATARMAN, CAMIGUIN, TO CONDUCT FISHING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL WATERS OF CATARMAN, CAMIGUIN.

BE IT ORDAINED, by the Sangguniang Bayan, this municipality, in its regular session the following:

Section 1

TITTLE. This ordinance shall be known as “FISHING ACTIVITIES WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL WATERS OF CATARMAN, CAMIGUIN;

Section 2

DECLARATION OF POLICY. It shall be the policy of the Municipality of Catarman, to promote conserve and ensure sustainable and equitable utilization of its coastal areas and resources in order to give decent income to local fisher folks.

Section 3

DEFINITION OF TERMS. Unless the context otherwise indicates, the following shall be construed to mean:

3.1 Small-Scale Commercial Fishing Boat/Vessel - one that weighs not more than 9 tonnage

3.2 Fisher Folks – fishermen who are registered members of the Local Fishermen Association and residents of Catarman, Camiguin for at least six (6) months from the time this ordinance has been enacted;

3.3 Legitimate small-scale fishing vessel/boat – one that is owned and operated by one who is a resident in Catarman and whose business address is located in Catarman, Camiguin, for at least six (6) months from the time this ordinance has been enacted.
