AN ORDINANCE TO DECLARE THE SHORELINE AT THE RODRIGO STREET AN UP TO THE OLD LOOC GALLERA, LOOC CATARMAN CAMIGUIN A PROHIBITED AREA TO HAUL SAND AND GRAVELS.

Be it by the Municipal Council of Catarman, Camiguin Philippines, that:

Section 1

EXPLANATORY NOTE: It has been closely observed that the sea water in Catarman, Camiguin, particularly the Poblacion up to Barangay Looc, is getting inward the dry land from time to time. Many coconut trees along the shoreline were swallowed by the angry waves from the sea, The constant hauling of sand and gravels along the shoreline principally contributed the fast destruction of coconut trees, and if no measures be adapted by this Body, in the near time, Poblacion up to Looc will be under the sea.

Section 2

It is unlawful for any person or persons to haul sand and gravels along the shoreline from Rodrigo Street up to the shoreline at the back of the old Looc Gallera.

Section 3

That outside the prohibited area, any person or persons who is/are permitted to haul sand or gravels shall get sand or gravels four meters away from the boundary of the lots along the shoreline to avoid destruction of coconut trees.

Section 4

Any person or persons found violating the provisions of this ordinance shall be fined in the amount of not more fifty pesos and not less than thirty pesos, and or an imprisonment of not more than fifteen days and not less than ten days, or both fine and imprisonment at the discretion of the court.

Section 5

Any ordinance whose provisions are inconsistent with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Section 6

this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon approval.
